Evidence from the Laws of Physics

Running Downhill

The Second Law of Thermodynamics, also known as the Law of Entropy, states that every system left to its own devices will always move from a condition of order to disorder.
"… all we have to do is nothing, and everything deteriorates, collapses, breaks down, wears out all by itself." - Isaac Asimov - "In the Game of Energy and Thermodynamics, You Can't Even Break Even," - Smithsonian (June 1970) p.6

The Law of Entropy therefore makes evolution a non-starter, for evolution violates the Second Law by creating an ordered universe out of an explosion - the Big Bang, total disorder!!
" 'Perhaps the universe didn't have a beginning', some suggest. 'Perhaps it's always been around.' Most cosmologists reject this alternative because of the severe problem of the Second Law of Thermodynamics. Applied to the Universe as a whole, this law states that the cosmos is on a one-way slide towards a state of maximum disorder, or entropy. Irreversible changes, such as the gradual consumption of fuel by the Sun and stars, ensure that the Universe must eventually 'run down' and exhaust its supplies of useful energy. It follows that the Universe cannot have been drawing on this finite stock of useful energy."
Paul Davies - Professor of Theoretical Physics
New Scientist - 27th April 1996 (emphasis added)

If the universe is winding down, it must have been wound up. If the universe is running downhill there must have been a time when it was at the 'top of the hill' - But who wound it up in the first place? Who placed it at the top of the hill?

Bringing the house down!

The editorial in the New Scientist (16th Sept. 1995) carried the appealing title, 'Dig Deep for Darwin'. Down House, situated on the outside of the small village of Downe, Kent, is the family home of the famous Darwin family. The building is threatened with dereliction, for according to the New Scientist it is "riddled with woodworm, the roof leaks and the paint work is peeling" - "his house is now in a sorry state" - "Darwin's old laboratory is a ruin" - "Some £3.2 million is needed .... to secure the house and restore it."

Is it not therefore ironic that the home of Charles Darwin, the 'father of evolution', should become a wonderful, visual example of the operation of the Second Law of Thermodynamics, the very law that would contradict his theory!! One has aptly commented, that unless action is taken, the home of the Darwin family will live up to its name - 'Down' House.

"The earth ... the heavens ...they shall wax old as doth a garment" - Hebrews 1:10
